Hello everyone! This year, Niigata AJET’s Sado I

Hello everyone! This year, Niigata AJET’s Sado Island Weekend Getaway is May 31st to June 1st, 2025!
Where: Sado Seaside Villa, Sobama Beach, Sado Island

How much: ¥6,000 /person
Price includes --
~ 1 night of accommodation in a private beachside villa (each villa is fully equipped with a bathroom and kitchen)
~ Use of a BBQ grill for food
~ Shared pool AND hot tub on the property
~ Direct access to Sado's beautiful Sobama Beach
~ Countless fun summer memories!

We'll be renting two types of villas.
- Caribbean Villa (fits up to five people max)
- Hawaii Villa (fits up to seven people max)

We'll be reserving five units of the Caribbean Villa and one unit of the Hawaii Villa. Please let us know which villa type you prefer and with whom you would like to room.

Please understand that villa preference will be given on a first-come first-serve basis BASED ON THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR RSVP FORM.

If you are planning to book an entire villa as a group, the accommodation request cannot be granted until EVERY MEMBER of the group submits the RSVP form.

The RSVP form will drop on April 18th! There are only 32 spots available, so sign up as soon as you can!

Spring is here! *please no more snow* 🫠

Niigata AJET will be holding 2 hanami picnics in April! The first in Joetsu and the second in Niigata. Come to the most convenient for you, or both! Takada Castle and Toyanogata park are both very popular destinations because of their beautiful views, so parking will be nearly impossible. We recommend taking public transportation, or arriving very early if you want to drive.

For food, there are a variety of food stalls to choose from but lines can be long. Consider bringing your own bento if you don't want to wait in line!

AJET will be holding another 🤘CHARITY🫶 Bake Sale and donating all the proceeds to either:

Child Assault Prevention Niigata (www.cap-niigata.net/whatcap) — an NPO focused on children’s safety by teaching them how to avoid bullying, harassment, kidnapping, etc.

or

Coco Latte Niigata (cocolatteniigata.wordpress.com) — a group dedicated to creating safe spaces and events for LGBTQ+ folks in Niigata.

And, you 🫵 will have the power to vote for which organization we donate to after completing a short survey at the conference.

Fukushima AJET is having a ski trip in January, and everyone here in the rice bowl is invited! 🍚🥢

When: January 25th and 26th

Where: Snow Paradise Inawashiro

Transportation: There is a ✨FREE🍚🥢 shuttle from Niigata Station to this ski resort! It’s reservation only, so once we know how many people from Niigata are coming, an AJET member will make one. 👍👍✨

FuJET is reserving a cottage, so if you would like to STAY OVERNIGHT, RSVP 🍚✨ASAP✨! The deadline for overnight RSVPs is December 9th.

The DAY TRIP form is open until December 15th!

It’s fall y’all!🍁🍂🍁 Kōyō has begun

It’s fall y’all!🍁🍂🍁
Kōyō has begun and we’re planning a 🍁✨FREE EVENT✨🍁 on Saturday, November 16th to see all the beautiful fall colors in one of the most beautiful places in Niigata! 🍁🍂🍁Yahiko!🍁🍂🍁

The event starts with an optional hike to the top of Yahiko Mountain and then an afternoon picnic in Yahiko Park.

Meeting Time: 10 AM
Meeting Place: Yahiko Shrine’s First Torii Gate
Hiking Time: about 2-3 hours total— after reaching the top, you can opt to take the ropeway down, but just know that during Kōyō, the wait times might be longer than simply hiking back.
Difficulty: 2 (out of 5)

The trail can get a little steep at times so please wear closed-toed sneakers or hiking boots. And, bring water to stay hydrated during the hike. The recommended amount is at least one liter.

By now, all the new JET Programme participants should have settled into their placements and are getting ready for Orientation this Thursday, August 22nd! Only newcomers and a few helping hands are going to Orientation ✨BUT✨ the Welcome Dinner after is, well, “welcome” to EVERYONE!!

For this year’s 🌾Welcome Dinner🌾,
AJET will be at Bandai City Food Hall from 5:30 to 7:30PM. We’ll do our best to arrange seating so we can all sit together, but there’s a chance we might have to split into groups and spread out a little. However, because it’s open seating with several restaurants available to choose from, there are NO reservations or forms to fill out!!🤘😎✨

Orientation go-ers will probably be in formal dress, but this is a FUN, CASUAL EVENT so wear what you like!
