What is Niigata Creative
From the metalworkers sweating under the shade of Mt. Yahiko, to the silk weavers dying their cloth in the snowfields of Yuki-guni, from the artisans carving ornate lacquerware in the north, to the jewelers polishing precious jade in the south, Niigata is full of highly skilled artisans producing truly exquisite products that are known all across Japan and around the world.
But how much do you know about them?
In our Niigata Creative event series, sponsored by Tsukuru Co. Ltd., you can get a chance to spend the day with these artisans and learn more about them and their craft. It is our goal that these events will provide you with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their workshops and studios, connect you to people across Niigata that have dedicated their lives to perfecting their trade, and provide you with enough knowledge to allow you to go out and discover more in your own community.
Keep a lookout for our next event to be announced soon!
Due to the increasing rates of Corona-virus infection within Niigata Prefecture, the details of this event have changed. The sake tasting component has been canceled. The workshop will now last until about 12pm, and lunch will also no longer be provided. Due to this, the cost of the event has been reduced to 2500 yen.
- Please note that event details may change due to corona virus.
